Volcanic water brand identity and product design

Pura is a bottled water brand inspired by the natural beauty and volcanic landscapes of Costa Rica. Working closely with the founder, I developed the brand from the ground up—creating an identity system that captured the purity of the water while celebrating the vibrant ecosystems surrounding its source.

The visual language combines lush tropical imagery with clean typography and bright blue accents that evoke both volcanic mineral water and the clarity of fresh springs. The result is a brand that feels energetic, natural, and refreshing while maintaining a strong retail presence.

From product packaging to digital experiences, the Pura identity was designed as a flexible system that could scale across physical products, marketing materials, and web platforms.

Brand Identity

The brand identity centers on a bold wordmark paired with vibrant environmental imagery drawn from Costa Rica’s volcanic terrain and rainforest ecosystems. Rich greens and blues reflect the surrounding landscape while reinforcing the purity and mineral richness of the water itself.

The visual system balances clean typography with expressive imagery, allowing the brand to communicate both scientific credibility and natural vitality.

Packaging & Product Design

Packaging played a central role in the brand experience. I designed the bottle label and product presentation to stand out on retail shelves while maintaining a sense of natural authenticity.

The label integrates landscape imagery, mineral data visualizations, and vibrant tropical elements that communicate both the source and purity of the water. The packaging design reinforces the brand’s connection to Costa Rica’s volcanic environment while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic suitable for retail distribution.

Marketing & Collateral

To support the launch of the brand, I developed a range of marketing and promotional materials including in-store signage, product displays, and informational graphics. These materials emphasized the unique mineral composition of the water and the environmental story behind the brand.

Bold color, clear typography, and layered imagery ensured that the brand remained recognizable and visually cohesive across every marketing touchpoint.

Website Design

In addition to the physical branding, I designed and managed the Pura website to extend the identity into the digital space. The site was structured to introduce the brand story, highlight the source of the water, and educate customers about its naturally occurring mineral content.

The web design mirrors the visual language of the packaging and marketing materials, creating a consistent brand experience from shelf to screen.
